We spoke probaby to at least 100 people over the weekend - and in answer to prayer the weather was good!
Interestingly we were placed by the organisers next to a psychic healing and new age stand. I explained to them first-off what we were about, and we felt we had a positive relationship. Indeed, at least two of their people did our presentations!
Many conversations were inconclusive from the presenter's viewpoint, as we do not know what seeds sown will eventually produce fruit. Most were very receptive/interested, and there were some positive comments from at least one lady, who after explaining her spirituality, thanked the presenter for listening as a Christian without judging her. (Naturally we never agree with aberrant spiritual views, but we can affirm 'your willingness to search' or 'your sincere desire to know truth in the spiritual realm' as we seek to show what a relationship with Jesus can be like for them.)
All age ranges were represented both for presenters and seekers. One lad was only about 19, and did really well. We had several presenters starting for the first time, and feedback from them was really positive.
One more senior couple, again first-time presenters, were fairly bubbling over with eagerness, and did really well in their relating to seekers. They both stood up in church the next Sunday and gave a great testimony as to their experiences.
I personally had a fantastic talk with two young ladies, both with families, right at the end of the weekend. They both had church backgrounds, but had been put off by the restrictions of religious systems. One in particular knew she should reconnect with God. As the conversation developed I could really sense God at work, and told them so. I felt empowered to speak firmly but with sincere love into their lives about their situation, and what hey needed to do about it to get past 'religion' and find relationship with Jesus. A very powerful time, and one which I trust God follows through on to His glory.
All in all a great weekend, and who knows where it will take people on their journey towards the Kingdom of God.
